Our Level System Explained

How to Know Which Stylist is Best for You

Hello New Neighbor, nice to meet you! My name is Macy. I have been the proud owner of Cedar Lane since its early days back in 2019. I can't wait to share my story with you. For now, I want to shed some light on our MOST asked question: What do the levels mean?

Let's get into it...

When you go to book at Cedar Lane, you’ll notice that each stylist has a “level” next to their name. We want to explain exactly what that means — in the simplest, clearest way possible:

Our levels are based solely on the demand of that stylist’s time — not their skill, talent, or experience.

Every stylist in our salon is fully licensed, trained in our techniques, and held to the same high standards of guest care and artistry. What changes as a stylist’s level increases is simply how full their schedule is. Basic supply and demand essentially.

Surprisingly, some of our Level One and Level Two stylists have been licensed longer than Level Three or Four stylists! But again, their level just reflects how many guests they currently have requesting them and how full their books are.

So when we talk about levels, think:

Availability, not ability.

Why We Use a Level System

Using a level system helps us:

    •    Offer flexibility in pricing

    •    Be transparent about stylist availability

    •    Give you more control over your booking experience

It ensures that you can choose what works best for your schedule and preferences.

What Each Level Really Means

Level One & Two:

  • Growing client books and more appointment availability.

  • Easier to schedule, especially for last-minute or after-work appointments.

  • Pricing is slightly more flexible.

Level Three & Four:

  • Consistently booked with strong client demand.

  • May require pre-booking.

Great match for those who like to maintain a recurring schedule.

Level Five+

  • Highly in-demand stylists who are often booked out weeks to months in advance.

  • May have limited availability or may not be accepting new guests at this time.

  • Ideal for guests who love planning ahead and already know their stylist fit.

Again — none of this says anything about skill.

It simply reflects how many guests are requesting them.

How to Choose Your Stylist

Ask yourself one simple question:

Do I want the most flexibility in scheduling or am I willing to book further out to see someone with limited availability?

If you need sooner availability → Try Level One or Two

If you don’t mind pre-booking → Level Three may be perfect

If you already know your stylist soulmate → Level Four+ might be your match

And if you’re not sure who to choose — we will happily match you based on your hair goals, personality, and schedule.

Just send us a quick DM or consultation request — we love helping you find your person.
