There’s nothing like having bitter cold winter days to prompt thoughts about warmer conditions. St. Louis offers gorgeous spring weather, and as everyone crawls out of the cold hibernation phase, most look forward to receiving extra doses of vitamin C with more time outside. Spring months are typically about revamping the outdoor experience of homes. That's why Rachel Newton, Heartlands Building Company marketing representative, is so eager to discuss how to enhance all outdoor living spaces.
Rachel says Heartlands is a completely custom building company specializing in screen rooms, outdoor additions, pool houses, decks and even renovations, home flips and complete custom homes. "Nothing we do is cookie cutter or prefabricated. It’s all dreamed up based on clients' unique preferences, all with the focus of building a space that will last for years," she adds.
Regarding 2022 trends for outdoor living, Rachel has great ideas to share:
- While outdoor fireplaces have been popular for a while now due to offering the chance to enjoy chilly nights outside, she says Heartlands has been dreaming up grandiose ideas lately with even bigger spaces to lounge by the pool and the fireplace -- with room for large dining sets so the space can be used in many ways.
- Retractable screens are often installed for complete opening or closing based on the weather, which is perfect for the Midwest’s nature mood swings.
- The addition of screens creates a steady flow between open and closed space, going hand-in-hand with Heartland’s screen room systems.
“I always look forward to the satisfaction of seeing my client’s reactions to their new additions. We take their dreams, find how it will flow best with their home, and then make it a reality," says Heartland’s owner Adam Twellman.
Rachel also emphasizes how unique it is for the company to have its own concrete division. "You can trust that your project is all handled with care when it comes to the foundations, piers and patio space," she adds.
Her favorite finishing touch on a project, she says, is adding a custom stamp design to poured concrete slab, creating a luxurious look. "With different colors and unique patterns, this technique is the cherry on top of your design."
