Summertime is here and that means that there is an even more bountiful plethora of unique activities to enjoy in Boulder County. For Eric Reed, owner of Acme Fine Goods, the area is a vibrant, exciting playground just waiting to be explored.

“We live in an amazing time and place,” says Eric. “We could be hiking before work, hosting a meeting from a trailhead and signing contracts at a mountain retreat. From local table fare to dancing to live music all on the same day. There is no shortage of fun to be had.”

So how can Boulderites best outfit themselves for peak enjoyment of all these summertime activities? Eric notes that it’s hard to find the ideal apparel but not impossible.

Enter Acme Fine Goods, the fashion and outdoor business that Eric opened in Louisville in 2019 to help bring high-quality, approachable style to the Boulder community.

“I want each piece you buy from us to be one that stands up to the rigors of an adventurous life and to be the piece that you reach for first,” says Eric.

Acme Fine Goods offers apparel from brands around the world including Norway, Japan, France, Belgium and the U.S. Having recently celebrated its fourth anniversary, it’s a business that thrives on its relationships throughout the community and with its brand partners. Through its “fine goods, less bad” mantra, the team at Acme works to help customers discover a unique aesthetic through clothing items that are wholly distinct.

To help outfit Boulderites for some of the adventures they may be setting off on this summer, Eric has rounded up his recommendations for the apparel to pair with three exciting local outings.

Into the Wild

When it comes to getting dressed for one of Boulder County’s many available outdoor adventures, Eric notes that blending the right technical elements with the best, most comfortable materials makes all the difference. Choosing clothing with breathability, stretch and the most functional pockets is key, while materials should be tough enough to withstand the chosen activity while still providing flexibility. The goal is a comfortable, durable selection that exudes an effortless style.

A Night Out in Louisville

Casual and fun is the vibe synonymous with Louisville, and this can be translated into the ideal apparel for an evening taking in the town’s dining, breweries, live music and many other activities. Eric encourages a break from the routine and to try to resist reaching for “tried and true” day-to-day items. Seek out a pop of color to stand out from the crowd and ensure that your outfit is comfortable and confidence-inducing for a finished, natural look.

Simplicity, versatility and comfort are key so that you can enjoy both the journey and the destination, whether you find yourself partaking in a roadside dinner, dipping your toes in a mountain river, popping into an old-school café in the backroads, sipping at a far-off dive bar or perusing a treasure-filled vintage store.
