Since the ribbon cutting in April, Sherman's Pecan Grove East Park has enjoyed a busy summer as the region's only all-inclusive park.
What sets an "all-inclusive park" like Pecan Grove East Park apart? Features like sensory domes, play panels, musical instruments, and quiet areas cater to a wide range of needs. Secure swings, accessible slides, and climbing structures with varying challenge levels ensure everyone can enjoy the park regardless of ability.
Pecan Grove East Park is in the heart of Knollwood and offers an ideal setting for walkers and runners. In 2024, the Sherman Noon and Evening Lions Club collaborated with the City of Sherman to help make the all-inclusive playground a reality. Additional contributions were made by the International and Texas State Lions Foundations, the Texoma Health Foundation, and the Dorset Foundation, in addition to numerous local donations from businesses and individuals.
The Sherman Rotary Club, including the Grayson County Rotary Club, supported the development of Sherman's first Story Walk. This walk combines outdoor activity with literacy by featuring pages of children's books.
Many community leaders envisioned this park, which is designed to allow people of all ages and abilities to play and experience the outdoors together, feeling welcome for many years to come.
