For more than a decade, A Bottle or Two—one of the Loveland area’s largest boutique wine and beer stores—has offered a remarkable selection of both locally sourced and world-renowned libations and accessories. “We have confidence in every bottle on the shelf,” manager Mike Schneder says, in large part because each one has been sampled and hand-selected by management before being stocked. “We’re lucky to have loyal customers who appreciate what we do.”

Which is why we asked Mike to recommend three of his favorites under $20—plus complements for each.

The Sum, The Seventy Five Wine Company
California red blend
“Aged goat cheese—Drunken Goat is one of our favorites from Spain,” Mike suggests. He adds that braised beef and mushroom stew would also pair really well this time of year. For dessert, look no further than a dark chocolate/fruit combo, like chocolate-covered cherries.

Les Petites Parcelles de Dolia
Rhône Valley (France) red blend
Mike recommends smoked gouda or cheddar to accompany this blend. For entrée consideration, he enthusiastically suggests lamb chops. “Milk chocolate, with sea salt and caramel, would be delicious as well.”

Dama, Marramiero
Treviano (Italy)
“This one pairs well with aged Parmigiano-Reggiano,” Mike points out. “Fish would also be perfect, especially pan-roasted red snapper.” Finish with “white chocolate-covered hazelnuts” for a perfect pairing.
