Performance 100

Performing at Your Highest Level for a Lifetime

Passionate athletes are always looking for the edge to stay fit while preventing injuries. It’s not always the best athlete or team that wins. It is often the healthiest. Regardless of your sport, there are principles you can follow to make it more productive and fun.

With experience providing care for professional athletes, college and high school teams, national champs and everyday folks, we’ve found five principles to incorporate into your training to accomplish these goals. If you only do three or four, you’re probably compromising your capabilities and experiencing frustrating injuries.

The 5 Principles of 100 Year Lifestyle FitNESS

Neurology = Function

Neurology comes first! Your nervous system controls and coordinates the function of every cell and system in your body. A healthy nervous system is essential for your heart, lungs and every part of your body to work properly. This is why top athletes and performers utilize chiropractic care as a central part of their fitness program.

Nutrition = Fuel

Your nutritional habits will fuel your life. A diet with organic fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, low sugar and little processed foods, should be the way you eat. Many athletes experiment with paleo, vegan or a balance between the two. Figure out what works for you and stick with it. As your training intensity changes, vary your nutritional regimen accordingly.

Endurance = Longevity

Life is a marathon one sprint at a time. Endurance exercise and interval training can improve your cardiovascular system. Vary the frequency, intensity and duration of your training. You’ll be amazed at how your body progresses.

Strength = Independence

To optimize performance and also be independent as you age, you must make your strength a priority today. Whether you use weights or plyometric types of training, it is important to keep yourself strong as a part of a lifestyle.

Structure = Activity

Your structure determines the level of activity you can enjoy. Having a healthy spine is vital to your quality of life in the short and long term. Alignment of your extremities is also important. Chiropractic care corrects structural and neurological issues to heal, optimize performance and prevent injuries. Nearly every major sports team has a chiropractor.
