Premiering October 15 - 18, 2026, at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Affordable Art Fair Houston will showcase contemporary artworks by local, national, and international artists and galleries, priced from $100 to $12,000.
“We have seen incredible success from the past three editions in Austin, and felt it was the perfect time to expand into a market that already embraces collecting while simultaneously empowering a new generation of buyers,” explains Cori Teague, Affordable Art Fair Director for Houston and Austin. “Houston is one of the country’s great collector cities and is home to generations of art patrons who understand the value of living with original art. Our goal is that the Affordable Art Fair becomes a place where established collectors, first-time buyers, galleries, and artists come together.”
The Affordable Art Fair has created an environment that removes the intimidation often associated with art fairs. This event is a gallery-led fair featuring carefully curated presentations from professional galleries in Texas and around the world. Setting it apart is the buying experience at the fair. Visitors are encouraged to ask gallerists questions, discover artists, and learn about collecting, without feeling like a background in art is needed.
The event aims for inclusivity. Late-night activities for adults and kid-friendly events during Family Hours give visitors the flexibility to choose the right time to visit. “The goal is to make collecting as accessible and approachable as possible to seasoned and new collectors alike,” Teague says. The weekend will feature programming, including special installations, discussion panels, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences.
Visitors will see affordable art that has been through a selective application process. Everything from painting and sculpture to photography, mixed media, textiles, ceramics, and limited-edition prints will be featured. Teague explains, “We look for galleries with strong curatorial programs, professional presentations, and living artists whose work reflects diversity, quality, and creativity. As one of the country's most established collector markets, Houston deserves a fair that reflects the caliber of its arts community. Every gallery was selected with the goal of creating an inspiring and cohesive experience for both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers.”
Teague advises new buyers to purchase what they genuinely love rather than following trends or buying for investment value. “Choose artwork you will enjoy living with every day. When shopping for a specific space, bring wall measurements.
For seasoned collectors, Teague suggests stepping outside your comfort zone. Discover a new gallery, explore an emerging artist, or consider a new medium. Some of the most memorable collections are built by embracing the unexpected and allowing a collection to evolve over time.
“Art creates personality,” believes Teague. “Original artwork tells a story, sparks conversation, and reflects the people who live in a space. It has the power to completely change a room's atmosphere and create an emotional connection.
