I moved with my wife from Boston to Seattle to attend the orthodontic residency program at the University of Washington. After a year of living in Bellevue, we knew that the PNW was going to be home for us. I started looking at different neighborhoods to set up a practice. Sammamish checked all the boxes, and that is how PORTH started.
PORTH is an abbreviated term for Personalized Orthodontics. We grew to ten employees and two locations (Sammamish and Bellevue) in five years. So, what is Esthetic Orthodontic Treatment? Orthodontic treatment can be delivered with various appliances. For a cosmetic option, an orthodontist uses esthetic appliances - clear aligners also known as Invisalign or lingual braces. Lingual braces are completely hidden and placed behind the teeth. I am among the few orthodontists in the US that offer lingual braces. This treatment modality requires unique expertise in how to use lingual braces to deliver orthodontic care.
Similarly, we offer clear aligner therapy at PORTH. My story with clear aligner therapy goes back to my orthodontic training when I did a research project on the Invisalign appliance. At PORTH, we have treated numerous patients with clear aligners. We offer a personalized aligner treatment option where the patient can pick and choose a combination of aligner and braces. PORTH aligners also help me to deliver the treatment faster since I don’t need to work with offshore lab technicians or wait for a long time to get the aligners from outside of the United States. I often get invited to share what we developed globally in various orthodontic conferences.
