PET WANTS TEXOMA

Premium Pet Care Products For Your Premium Pets

Jeff and Sharilynn Kagey are excited to bring their new pet business to the Texoma area. You may have seen them at local markets, as they offer premium quality pet care products to our pet families.

Sharilynn has lived in Texoma since 2012, and Jeff has lived here since 2021. When asked how they got interested in starting their new pet care business, Sharilynn was quick to reply, “We have both always loved animals and grew up with dogs." Jeff said, "Sharilynn has also always been interested in the health and wellness of our dogs. Always reading labels and searching for the most nutritious options for them. Focused on dogs living optimal, happy, and long lives, we began discussing the possibility of opening a business in 2023 and discovered the Pet Wants brand in 2024. After extensive research, we felt it was the perfect opportunity to positively impact our community by doing something we are passionate about. We participated in our first market in August 2024!”

As pet owners themselves, the Kageys understand the importance pets hold for their owners. They have two pet dogs named Willow and Shadow. "Willow found us when we were on a weekend getaway at Lake Eufaula. She was in the middle of the road, waiting for us to rescue her. We found Shadow on Facebook. He and his sisters had been dumped, and the person who found them wanted to find homes for them. Willow is a senior lady, and Shadow is a feisty puppy.”

They started their business offering mobile pet product services. Mrs. Kagey says, “We felt the area lacked a pet boutique that catered to pets and their owners. We are at local markets and events weekly and offer free delivery with online orders. We offer a line of premium pet food, made in small batches specifically for Pet Wants. We sell the food by the pound and have 7 dog formulas and 3 cat formulas. We have a line of Pet Wants cookies, freeze-dried treats and food, natural chews, and 'spaw' products. We want to be a resource for pet parents, arming them with information and products they need to give their pets the happiest and healthiest life possible.”

When asked what sets their business apart from other pet businesses, Mrs. Kagey states, “We have access to a certified pet nutritionist, and we have our own line of pet food that is nutritionally dense and made in small batches. It is cooked at a lower temperature, ensuring optimal nutritional quality. We make rotational feeding easy since customers can purchase food by the pound. All of our products are free of artificial preservatives and chemicals. We offer personalized service and food consultations.”

After finding success with their mobile business, the Kageys have decided to open a local storefront in the Texoma area to better serve their customers. “We are in the process of building out our store at Westwood Village in Sherman. When we open our store, we will offer a wider variety of products and brands. We will also have a dog wash. We will continue to provide delivery in the Texoma area, but we are excited that our customers will now be able to shop with us at their convenience, both online and in-store. We look forward to hosting events at our store, allowing pets and their owners to enjoy a fun outing together. We will open this year." Mrs. Kagey says they have really enjoyed being in the Texoma area. “We love that it is small town friendly. We have always enjoyed shopping locally, and the Texoma area boasts a multitude of great small businesses! We have a heart for Westwood Village and want it to be a destination with an eclectic mix of small business owners."

Being part of the community is important to the Kageys. “Local shelters are our priority. When we have our store, we want to host adoption events as much as possible so that pets that have been abandoned can find a loving and forever home. We also want to promote the small businesses and vendors that we have met at markets over the past year. We plan to partner with them to showcase their products/services through events at the store.”
