Paying Homage to Charles Dickens

Celebrating 20 years on East 4th, Pickwick & Frolic has become a mainstay in Cleveland for more than one reason. Nick Kostis, owner and proprietor, has roots and inspiration that go back to the little-known fact that Charles Dickens visited Cleveland. Dickens authored the Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club, a comedic romp, that revealed “Dickens' sense of gathering, community and conviviality —lively and friendly — not only helped to theme his writing but also epitomized his lifestyle,” muses Nick.

This sense of gathering and liveliness is exactly what you get when you visit Pickwick & Frolic. There is nowhere in Cleveland quite like this pedestrian destination where you can find five unique spaces under one roof designed specifically to flow without walls.

Kick off your evening at the Pickwick Restaurant, delivering rotisserie and hearth-fired poultry, seafood and Certified Angus Beef, fresh from scratch in an open-style kitchen.

After dinner, enjoy unique and original entertainment in the Frolic Cabaret, an intimate setting to enjoy something new and very popular, a murder mystery show that is interactive and offers edge-of-your-seat fun. The Delusional Divas can also be seen on the cabaret stage to bring a little sass to your night. Additionally, up-and-coming comedic talent is presented in the Frolic Cabaret.

Pickwick & Frolic is also home to Hilarities 4th Street Theatre — celebrating its 37th year, presenting live stand-up comedy from Los Angeles to New York. Hilarities has been a launching pad for notable acts including Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Reiser, Tim Allen, Steve Harvey, Sabastian Maniscalco, Bill Burr, Bert Kreischer and countless others of both local and national notoriety.

Your evening doesn’t end with just good food, some sass and laughs but maybe a nightcap as you stop at the swanky Kevin's Martini Bar & Taproom — a luxurious cocktail lounge with dark red ambiance, an unusual bar top, white Italian furnishings and custom booths. The martinis, along with their extensive mixed drink menu and craft beer taps, are carefully crafted by one of the city’s top mixologists. The drinks don’t end at Kevin’s because adjacent to the lounge is Cleveland’s only Champagne Bar. Whatever your taste, you will be sure to find something you love at Pickwick & Frolic.
