Tell me about your work. What drew you to photography?

Honestly, I’ve always been the one with a camera in hand — even back in high school with those disposable cameras! When I got to college, I actually started off wanting to be a vet, but I found myself more and more drawn to the art department. That’s where I really fell in love with photography. Over the years, my style has evolved, but that early love for capturing moments and telling stories through images has only grown stronger. I’m all about those rich colors and authentic, candid moments that really show people as they are.

What types of photos do you specialize in shooting?

I started out with weddings and family portraits, and I still love working with families and past clients. Over the years, I’ve also transitioned to focus on branding photography and working with a variety of businesses and creatives. I love helping entrepreneurs and creatives tell their unique stories, but I always enjoy capturing those special family moments, as well.

What do you hope your photos convey?

I hope my photos show people as their true, authentic selves. It’s all about capturing those genuine, unscripted moments that reflect who they really are — whether that’s a business owner showing up confidently in their space or a family laughing together on the back porch.

If you could give readers one piece of advice when it comes to having their picture taken, what would it be?

Let go of the idea of “perfect.” Some of the best photos happen when you’re relaxed and being yourself. Wear something you feel good in, don’t overthink it and trust your photographer. The more fun you have, the better your photos will be.

Tell me about your work. What drew you to photography?

I am a documentary photographer and freelance photojournalist. So naturally, my work is based in storytelling. Some of my clients include the Associated Press, the Financial Times (London), and KFF Health News, with photos published nationally and internationally. When I photograph, I am drawn to interesting characters and raw, intimate moments.

Recently, I have pulled together all of my passions and experience to create Studio A, a creative services business offering photography, website design, branding, social media and artist mentoring. Clients include artists and small creative businesses.

What types of photos do you specialize in shooting?

I like to say that my work straddles the line between documentary and fine art. I use natural lighting and candid portraiture, and I emphasize unique perspectives and angles, often using layers, framing and reflections to show my subjects in their natural environments.

What do you hope your photos convey?

I want my photos to connect with any type of viewer, those who are comfortable thinking on a deeper level about art but also those who can simply appreciate a photograph for what it is — a moment in time. I hope that viewers see humanity in my work, even in the images that show no humans at all.

If you could give readers one piece of advice when it comes to having their picture taken, what would it be?

Approach any photoshoot as experimentation, as a time to play with different looks, angles, expressions, etc. The burden is on the photographer to capture the best version of you. Sometimes those moments come not when you are poised and ready for the photo — sometimes they happen in between shots when you are simply connecting with the photographer. So stay open to the process. Treat the session as a collaboration, not a performance. The most authentic, powerful images often happen in the quiet, unguarded moments — when you’re just being yourself.

Tell me about your work. What drew you to photography?

My work is personal — never copy and paste. I see your family, your rhythm, your love, and do my best to honor it. Photography found me in fifth grade and stayed through every season —motherhood, moves, and now, capturing stories across Little Rock and the United States.

What types of photos do you specialize in shooting?

That’s what sets me apart — I photograph a little bit of everything. To me, a story is a story, not a category. If it’s honest and full of feeling, I’m there for it.

What do you hope your photos convey?

I want my photos to make you feel something — to understand who someone is, not just what they look like. Whether it’s a family or a brand, I aim to capture the essence, the heartbeat, the why behind it all.

If you could give readers one piece of advice when it comes to having their picture taken, what would it be?

There’s no perfect time to book a photoshoot. Life will always feel a little messy, a little busy ... but that’s the beauty of it. Don’t wait to lose weight, redecorate or find the ‘right’ season. The right time is now. These aren’t just photos — they’re proof you were here, loving and living in the middle of it all.
