Along with the first days of fall comes Franklin’s annual Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival – an eclectic lineup of live music, food, arts, crafts and more all set against a backdrop of the beautiful 230 acres of Harlinsdale Farm. While festival-goers can enjoy live music both day and night, they can also enjoy features like the Americana Music Triangle Experience – an immersive celebration of historic, musical cities of the South along the Gold Record Road; Makers Village – the festival’s own marketplace of local, handcrafted goods; Farm to Turntable – a shady little spot on the farm where you can sit down, recharge, and enjoy some eats from your favorite food trucks; and Lil’ Pilgrims Family Stage – an area for kids to enjoy music and activities all their own. Admission is free for children under the age of seven accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.
This year’s headliners include chart-toppers like the Lumineers, the Black Crowes, Zach Bryan, Ashley McBryde, Margo Price, Luke Grimes, Yola, and many others as part of a star-studded lineup. With two days and nights of music, activities, and fun for the whole family, Pilgrimage Festival is certainly worth the journey, great or small. PilgrimageFestival.com
Lumineers
The two-time Grammy-nominated Lumineers are touring in support of their fourth album, 2022’s Brightside. The album was top ten in both the U.S. and Canada and the title track reached Number 1 on Billboard’s Alternative National Airplay and Adult Alternative Airplay charts—the sixth time the band has topped the latter chart in less than 10 years. Last year’s tour saw more than 750,000 tickets sold across five continents, including two sold out stadium shows. TheLumineers.com
Black Crowes
In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed shake up with the album, Shake Your Money Maker. Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm. The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way. TheBlackCrowes.com
Yola
Stand For Myself is the anthemic new album from Yola, a sophisticated and diverse sonic mix of symphonic soul and classic. Yola’s inimitable vocals share nuanced stories of allyship, black feminine strength through vulnerability, collective awakening and loving connection from the sexual to the social. Yola declares that it is only when we stand for ourselves, and acknowledge our complexity, that we can be truly alive. IAmYola.com
Zach Bryan
Zach Bryan is a singer/songwriter from Oologah, Oklahoma, proud of his small-town roots and whose music is fueled by a desire to stay true to himself. The 25-year-old served seven years in the Navy before being honorably discharged. His success is found in his raspy voice, a mix of classic folk melody and outlaw country with a raw edge. Zach's ability to create depth in his work is rivaled by few artists. He believes that who you are only extends to the person you are today, an ideology reflected in everything he creates. Margo Price
Margo Price has something to say but nothing to prove. In just three remarkable solo albums, the singer/songwriter has cemented herself as a force in American music and a generational talent. A deserving critical darling, she has never shied away from the sounds that move her, the pain that’s shaped her, or the topics that tick her off, like music industry double standards, the gender wage gap, or the plight of the American farmer. In 2021, she even joined the board of Farm Aid. MargoPrice.net
Ashley McBryde
GRAMMY, CMA and ACM award winner Ashley McBryde cut her teeth playing country songs in biker bars – and it shows. With 11 songs all co-written by the Arkansas native, The Devil I Know is set for release on September 8, featuring chart-climbing lead single “Light On In The Kitchen,” along with the recently released title track, “Learned To Lie” and album opener “Made For This.” McBryde is currently on the road with headlining shows and festival stops throughout the summer along with dates on Jelly Roll’s Back Road Baptism Tour 2023 before returning to Middle Tennessee for Pilgrimage Festival. Luke Grimes
Known for his role as Kayce Dutton in Taylor Sheridan's juggernaut, Yellowstone, Grimes recently launched his music career with the release of his single "No Horse To Ride" and its sync in Yellowstone's mid-season finale. Grime's soulful and brooding voice as well as his acute sense of songwriting has made him a recent favorite in Nashville amongst the creative community.
