When Marc and Cindy Pollack discovered Playa Bowls during a vacation in Florida, they were instantly drawn to its vibrant atmosphere, friendly service, and wholesome menu. Recognizing a unique opportunity, they decided to bring the brand to Texas, opening their first shop in Austin and recently expanding to Dripping Springs.
Marc, an attorney since 1988, left his general law practice in 1994 to pursue his passion for representing professional athletes. In 1999, he co-founded Sports One Athlete Management, where he serves as president and general counsel.
For years, Marc dreamed of working alongside his sons, and opening Playa Bowls with his sons Jordyn and Jake by his side has made that a reality. Cindy, who has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist in the Dripping Springs school system for 13 years, now dedicates her time to the family’s Playa Bowls shops as well.
“Having the opportunity to teach our sons what we have learned over the past 30 years about business is a dream come true,” says Marc. “It is a two-way street, though, as we constantly learn from them about how to best serve customers today in our ever-changing social environment. We are all grateful to be working together every day.”
The Dripping Springs community embraced Playa Bowls from the start, with residents expressing enthusiasm for the new, healthy, affordable option in town. Playa Bowls embodies the family’s dedication to quality, health, and sustainability. The menu features a variety of nutrient-packed super fruit bowls such as acai and pitaya bowls, pressed juices, pure fruit smoothies made with non-dairy milks, and eco-friendly packaging.
The Pollack family quickly prioritized giving back to the community that welcomed them, fostering strong connections and supporting local schools, businesses, and neighborhoods. Their journey reflects the power of family and community, and they eagerly anticipate where this path will lead.
