Amanda Lantz is the owner of A. Lantz Design and Lantz Collective. She believes that interior design should be a reflection of the family that lives inside the home. Her team flexes its design style to accommodate the lifestyle and personal style of each homeowner. A. Lantz Design projects represent all styles: modern, contemporary, traditional, and beyond. This eye-catching vignette captures the firm's prowess for maximalist design.
I wanted to create a comfortable and relaxed space that was very colorful. I felt like the room was too beautiful to put a television in, and as I was ruminating about the path of design, I kept thinking about the way we’ve been living lately and how all this technology has become too important. I wanted to create a retreat from all of that, a space filled with a gorgeous collection of art and color. When implementing a maximalist approach to this space, it was important to consider the geometry and rhythm of the room while grounding the movement with the repetition of shapes and styles. Here art becomes the focal element of the design with the use of vintage pieces, newly framed works, and a large, commissioned painting by my father, Barry Lantz.
When carefully selecting the materials, furniture, and collected pieces for this project, I knew that movement throughout the space would be important. The table skirt fabric is from Kravet and was custom-made. To me, trim is a very important detail in all projects, therefore I knew I had to go with this pillow trim by Schumacher to tie this overall look together. The fabric I selected for the sofa was from Brunschwig & Fils. And of course, to cozy up the seating area, I selected a beautiful Hermès throw.
