At Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen, faith, family, and sobriety mean everything. They’re not just values; they’re the foundation that rebuilt our lives, our marriage, and our business.
When we first opened our restaurant, we thought we knew what hard work meant. But long days, endless decisions, and the pressure to keep customers happy can wear you down quickly. Like many in this industry, we turned to drinking as a way to take the edge off. At first, it felt like a small thing—a way to unwind after the rush. But over time, it became something heavier, feeling like it began taking from us instead of giving back.
The past two years changed everything. Christin found her sobriety first, and her strength gave me the courage to follow. Now she’s two years sober, and I’ve just passed my first year. Together, we’ve learned that clarity, peace, and faith are the real ingredients behind what we do. Sobriety didn’t just change how we live; it changed how we serve, how we love, and how we show up every single day.
Owning a business is still tough. But now, instead of running from the stress, we face it with purpose. Our faith reminds us why we started. Our family keeps us grounded. And our sobriety keeps us grateful for every sunrise, every customer, and every chance to do things the right way.
A Purpose Beyond the Plate
For us, food has always been more than just what’s on the plate; it’s about connection. Every sandwich, every cut of meat, every recipe we make starts with the belief that food can bring people together, heal old wounds, and build community in a way few things can.
At Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen, we believe in doing things the right way: slow, honest, and full of care. We’re proud to serve fresh, local, hand-made food that feels like home. Whether it’s a thick-cut sandwich stacked with flavor, a cold beer, or a freshly made cocktail, we want our guests to feel seen, valued, and part of something real. Just because we chose a different path doesn’t mean we expect everyone else to; our bar is part of the experience, offering a place where people can relax, celebrate, and enjoy good company.
Sobriety has given us a new appreciation for that kind of simple joy. It’s in the laughter that fills the deli during lunch rush, the regulars who’ve become friends, and the families who trust us to feed their own. Every day is a reminder that good food and good people are worth showing up fully present and grateful.
We’ve learned that faith isn’t just what happens in church, and family isn’t just blood. It’s the people you share life with—your team, your customers, and your community. And that’s exactly what we want our restaurant to reflect: a space built on second chances, served with heart, and seasoned with gratitude.
What We Stand For
At the end of the day, Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen isn’t just our business; it’s our testimony. Every challenge, setback, and triumph has led us here, to a place of purpose. We don’t take a single customer, meal, or moment for granted.
Faith taught us to trust the process. Family taught us to stay together when things got hard. And sobriety taught us to appreciate the simple, steady rhythm of honest work. Those lessons show up in everything we do, from the food we serve to the people we hire and the way we treat every person who walks through our doors.
We’re not perfect, and we don’t pretend to be. But we’re real: a family learning, growing, and trying to make a difference in our corner of Dripping Springs. If our story reminds someone that it’s never too late to turn things around, or inspires another business owner to lead with faith instead of fear, then we’ve done something good.
At Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen, every day is another chance to serve with gratitude, live with purpose, and prove that the best things in life—just like the best meals—are made from the heart.
Shanny’s Shoutout
by Shannon Holzwarth
If you’re looking for fresh, healthy ways to kick start your year, Turcotte has you covered with a rotating menu of vibrant, delicious options. I started with the Texas Power Bowl: quinoa piled with corn, cherry tomatoes, black beans, arugula, chipotle yogurt, and tender tri-tip. Although this was a first for me, it’s a staple in Brazil and California and, according to Erik Turcotte, “people are definitely catching on in Texas.” YUM.
Next up, the Beef Bulgogi Wrap: sliced sirloin, cabbage, carrots, and gochujang aioli. One bite and I thought, “THIS is my new favorite.” My New Year’s Resolution? Try every healthy option on the Specials board. So yes, Drip. I’m doing this for us.
