Prioritizing Wellness

Accomplishing health goals from the inside out

For many of us, the start of the new year is also an opportunity to check in on where we are in life. This includes reflecting on our health, both physically and mentally. Prioritizing health and wellness, like many New Year's resolutions, can be easier said than done.

“Here at our studio, we focus on taking little steps that can lead to big changes down the road,” said Molly Nestor, the Co-Owner of The Exercise Coach Summerlin North.

This fitness studio, located in the Rampart Plaza at Del Webb and Rampart, has a mission of helping people rebuild muscles and change the way they age. With the help of specialized strength training machines and experienced coaches, the goal is to help individuals revamp their entire body by regaining muscle mass.

“Strength training really affects everything,” said Nestor. “Especially after you turn 40, this is something we need to focus on, and we help you do that here in a way that is most effective and time efficient.”

Nestor, who co-owns this fitness franchise with her husband Brent, said that she has always been interested in health and wellness but didn’t find the right solution for her until she discovered strength training. Now, she’s helping everyone understand the importance of strength training, from her teenage daughter to clients who are in their 80s!

“We have one man who comes in here who is 85. He said he started coming to us because he is going to be walking across Nepal next year,” said Nestor. “That is just so inspiring and proof that it’s never too late to start taking care of yourself and to get stronger as you age."

Another local business that is seeing more people taking a more proactive stance on their health is The DRIPBaR. Nathan Atkins is the Managing Partner.

“I think Covid played a part in this changing attitude,” said Atkins. “When we were all at home, it really made a lot of people think about how to take better care of ourselves.”

The DRIPBaR, which is located inside the Cameron Shopping Center on West Flamingo, offers a variety of IV Vitamin therapies designed to boost overall wellness by providing essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream for maximum absorption.

"We offer one-on-one consultations to tailor IV therapy treatments to individuals’ needs and goals," said Atkins. "IV Vitamin Drip Therapy is also one of the best to start with. Within 2 or 3 months, our clients noticed a significant change in their energy and overall well-being."

When it comes to making a personal investment in feeling good, folks at the Best Years say they are also seeing more clients following this trend.

“We are definitely seeing more and more people being comfortable and interested in our products,” said Mark Kalbfleish, Co-Founder of The Best Years.

Kalbfleish describes his store, which is located on West Tropicana near Hualapai, as a wellness and lifestyle boutique that is specially tailored to clients 55 and over.

“Our CBD and related products are tremendously beneficial in helping mitigate pain and inflammation issues, with minimum known side effects," said Kalbfleish. "Of course, we always tell all of our clients to check with their professional health providers before using our products. But we love that over the years, we can give that gift of relief and the lessening of pain. I use these CBD products on myself after my shoulder surgery, and it has made a world of difference. If we can help provide ways to help people get some relief from pain and illnesses with our products, we are all for it."

And when it comes to starting the year feeling good from the inside out, who doesn't want to make that their ultimate goal?
