Our Annual Profile of Roswell Women You Should Know

Wanda Van Eybergen

Business: Fixing Nutrition - a nutrition and lifestyle coaching business to help you regain and/or maintain your health.

How long have you been in Roswell: I'm new here. I moved to Roswell in November of 2023 after spending a couple of decades living in Mexico City, Mexico.

Description of your business:

I’m a former investment banker, with a degree in mathematics, a cycling enthusiast and avid reader. I became obsessed with nutrition when my mother-in-law was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. The genetic component of this terrible disease made me worry for my husband and sons.

Our genes don't have to dictate our future. Nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management have a huge impact on our lives. I witnessed the effects firsthand. I changed the way I ate, and I was fascinated with what a difference it made. I got leaner and stronger and gained so much mental clarity.

I am in the latter half of my 50s, so I have also focused on the hormonal changes inevitable to all women at this age. The right nutrition and lifestyle play a huge role in balancing our hormones and ensuring a smooth transition to a new stage of life that need not be feared. I can walk you through this path, making sure you are not alone, well supported and guided in your decision to have hormonal replacement therapy – or not.

Best advice my mom gave me: Be your own health advocate. Don't take medicines lightly. Always explore natural remedies first. Chicken broth cures most things.

Business: While my most important job is raising and being present for my three kids, I also support our family businesses and manage our commercial properties.

How long have you been in Roswell: I am a native of Roswell and feel fortunate that my husband and I get to raise our kids here.

Description of your business:

For the past two years, I have been honored to be chair of the Historical Committee for Roswell Woman's Club. I have used my formal architectural training to create designs to transform two of Roswell's historic homes, Bulloch Hall Library and Mimosa Hall, for the holiday season. Those designs have been brought to life by the wonderful women on our committee. I also serve on the IT committee to provide support behind the scenes. Next year, I look forward to serving as assistant treasurer and membership committee co-chair for RWC.

I joined Roswell Woman's Club in 2019 to give back to the city I love. At that time, I only had a glimpse of RWC's impact. Not only do we have fun and build wonderful friendships, but we also work together to support nonprofits, education, and students right here where we live.

What I learned from my mom: When I was younger, my mom was an elementary school teacher at a Title 1 school. She always ensured every student who wanted a hug before going home for the day got one from her, because that might be the only hug they got all day. This kindness and compassion have greatly impacted me, and I hope to pass the importance of these qualities on to my kids.

Elizabeth (Liz) Jackson

Business: Retired educator
How long have you been in Roswell? Since the mid-1970s. My husband Ron and I met while we were in college at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. We’ve been married for over 50 years! After we graduated and completed some educational pursuits, we moved back to Ron’s hometown of North Atlanta. We chose to live in Roswell and moved into our current home where we have lived and raised our family since 1979.

Business: 31 years in education. I began as a classroom teacher and retired in 2015 as an elementary school principal in Cobb County Public Schools.

Best advice your mother gave you: My parents always taught me, and reinforced by the way they lived, that people are more important than things and attitude is a choice every person makes.

You're a faithful member of the Roswell Woman's Club. Tell us more.

As I’ve worked with others and my own family, my personal mission has been that I will be a source of leadership, compassion, and integrity to my family, school, community, and church. I joined Roswell Woman’s Club because their mission is closely aligned with mine.

I enjoy contributing my time and talents to RWC by helping to organize projects in Roswell and North Fulton. I have served as a club officer and as the president from 2022-2023. I’ve formed new friendships through my affiliation with RWC. It is a strong and active service organization. I am proud to be a part of the work we do for our community.

Business: Nutrishop Roswell - Specializing in Sports Nutrition, Health and Wellness, opened a year ago

Description of your business: A business owner in the Health and Fitness Industry, I have taken it upon myself to obtain the best certifications to assist everyone with their health and fitness journey. More specifically, not only do I hold NASM certifications as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Sports Nutrition Coach, I made it a point to obtain NASMs Women's Fitness Specialist Certification! Knowing, as a woman, the challenges we face with our amazing and ever-changing bodies, it was very important for me to be able to specifically address and teach women about nutrition, supplementation and helping them reach their health and/or fitness goals!

What advice would you give your younger self? Simple, stay in your faith! I don't believe I would have been able to handle the challenges I was given throughout my life if I didn't have God in my life. I am the woman and mom I am today because of Him.
