Prosper Mayor's Fitness Challenge

Just Do It!!!!

Mayor Ray Smith is proud of the past performances of the citizens of Prosper who participated in the previous seven years in which they competed in the state-wide contest. The city won three of those years, which is remarkable considering how many competing cities entered.

The goal is to have the highest number of miles logged between January 17th and March 18th. Each individual's goal is to walk, run, or even crawl (as Mayor Smith says) a total of 100 miles. Or, if you prefer to bike, your goal would be 300 miles. Come on, bikers! Many of you are already logging more than that! Be sure and sign up through the Parks and Recreation Center. The mileage is based on the honor system, so you don't have to worry about having to find a partner or group, although it would be great if you encouraged your friends and neighbors to join you.

“Mayor Smith has always been an advocate for healthy living and the annual Mayor’s Fitness Challenge is something he strongly believes in,” says Robyn Battle, Prosper’s Executive Director of Community Services. “He wants to see all of our residents enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle,” she added. Mayor’s Fitness Challenge participants that track at least 100 miles walking or running or 300 miles biking within the 90-day window receive a t-shirt, an entry to win a Fitbit, and recognition at a Town Council meeting. Tracking sheets and full details can be found at prospertx.gov.
