After more than two decades in corporate consulting, TruBlue Home Service Ally owner Jay Ericson was ready for a change that felt more personal. His career had long centered on improving operations, systems, and workflows for businesses, but he found himself wanting something closer to home, both literally and figuratively.
That shift led to the launch of his TruBlue Home Service Ally franchise, now serving Frisco, Prosper, and Celina and surrounding areas. Rooted in service, trust, and community connection, the business reflects both his professional background and deeply personal experiences.
“I was looking for something where I could really have a direct impact on people in my next chapter,” says Jay. “After years in consulting, I wanted to be closer to the community and provide something meaningful.”
That meaning comes from more than just business ambition. Jay’s path to TruBlue was shaped by his own family’s experience. Losing both of his parents at a relatively young age, he saw firsthand the challenges seniors face when trying to maintain independence at home. Falls and mobility issues became a reality, highlighting how critical safe living environments truly are.
“I lost both my parents in my 40s, and they each struggled with falls that impacted their independence,” says Jay. “That experience really stayed with me and pushed me toward focusing on senior safety.”
Today, that mission is central to everything TruBlue offers. While the company provides a wide range of home repair and improvement services, from drywall and painting to kitchen upgrades and fence repairs, its focus on aging in place sets it apart. As a Certified Senior Home Safety Specialist and Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist, Jay brings both expertise and empathy to every project.
“Seniors want to stay in their homes, and most homes are not set up for safely aging in place” says Jay. “We can assess those risks and make modifications that help people live safely and confidently.”
Those modifications can include installing grab bars, reducing thresholds, updating bathrooms with walk in showers, and applying anti slip surfaces. Combined with general maintenance and repair services, TruBlue becomes a single, reliable partner for homeowners who want peace of mind.
Trust is a cornerstone of that relationship. All TruBlue technicians are background checked, bonded, and insured, and they are trained specifically in senior home safety. For many homeowners, especially older adults, that level of accountability is essential.
“One of the biggest concerns people have is letting someone into their home,” explains Jay. “We have built a model where trust, safety, and professionalism are not optional, they are standard.”
Beyond individual homes, Jay is also committed to building partnerships within the local community. Jay partners with Frisco Family Services to provide free senior home safety education, and as an active committee member for the Aging and Disability Resource Center in North Texas, he is working to connect with organizations that share a similar mission.
“I want to scale support for the aging in place community,” shares Jay. “That means building relationships, understanding needs, and being a resource people can rely on.”
For Jay, TruBlue is more than a business. It is a way to combine his professional experience with a purpose that matters on a daily basis. Every repair, modification, and maintenance visit becomes an opportunity to make someone’s life a little easier and a lot safer, while giving families added confidence and reassurance in their loved ones’ environments.
“At the end of the day, this is about helping people protect their homes and the people inside them,” says Jay. “If we can do that well, everything else falls into place.”
