Few events bring together style, community and compassion quite like Power of the Purse®. Returning Thursday, Sept. 17, this signature fundraiser for CAC Office on Aging invites guests to enjoy an evening of shopping and dining and giving back while making a meaningful difference for homebound seniors.
Hosted at Rothchild Catering & Conference Center, the event begins at 4:45 p.m., followed by the always-popular Purse Madness at 6 p.m. Guests can browse hundreds of handbags at exceptional prices, enjoy dinner and dessert prepared by Rothchild Catering, discover new and vintage treasures in the Penny Bandy Jewelry Corner and bid on unique items during a silent auction featuring local businesses.
While the purses and jewelry draw a crowd, the mission makes the evening truly memorable. Proceeds support Mobile Meals, a program that delivers nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to more than 1,100 homebound seniors throughout Knox County every weekday. Each ticket purchased, purse selected and auction bid helps older adults remain safe, nourished and connected.
The Mobile Meals program delivers hot, nutritious midday meals Monday through Friday, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, to more than 1,100 homebound, isolated seniors ages 60 and older across Knox County who cannot cook for themselves. Meals are delivered by a dedicated volunteer network, helping seniors maintain their health, independence and quality of life at home. By combining reliable meal service with regular in-person contact, Mobile Meals helps seniors stay safe, reduce isolation and continue living with dignity in their own homes.
