As Christmas rolls around, so do the infomercials. “Buy this new gadget, it’ll change your life forever!” says the voluptuous model or the hottest cowboy you’ve seen in years. These plugs for gifts are endless; they often have nothing to do with our happiness, and instead act as exhausting intrusions on our time and our wallets. Yet in a world filled with materialism, these commercials still hijack our attention.

But should they? Is it possible to bring the spirit of generous and compassionate gift-giving back into our collective cultural memory?

Wotsa Koutoglo, founder of Lantsa Gifts, certainly believes so. “I started Lantsa Gifts because I believe a gift is more than just a checkbox on a to-do list. It is an opportunity to touch someone’s life in a meaningful way,” she reflects.

Lantsa Gifts was born out of a very personal moment. When Wotsa lost her dear cousin unexpectedly, she recalled a conversation they had before his passing. “He told me I have the gift of intentional giving (whether through time, knowledge, or resources) and that I should share it with the world. At first, I laughed, because I’ve never been a fan of self-promotion or selling, but he was serious. Through prayer and reflection, I felt called to create Lantsa Gifts.”

Wotsa’s process is a thoughtful one, and it starts with the story behind the gift. Who is it for? What do you want them to feel when they open it? Once she understands the person and the occasion, she suggests ideas that go past the obvious, whether that’s custom engraving, pairing items that reflect the person’s interests, or creating something one-of-a-kind like a 3D figurine.

Educating customers and teaching them how to go beyond the object itself is vital. “Many customers know they want something special but aren’t sure what that looks like. My role is to listen, ask the right questions, and guide them toward a gift that will positively impact the receiver.”

The right gift can truly be a blessing in someone’s life. This year, personalized gifts are all about connection, memories, and impact. They can take the form of a custom desktop piece featuring your loved one’s favorite quote or an inspiring message to brighten their day. A bespoke message on a Christmas tree ornament, coupled with a handmade greeting card, could show someone that they are seen, valued, and cherished.

The holiday season also shines a light on those who are less fortunate. Wotsa’s efforts are not limited to just gift-giving; her impact actually goes wider and deeper.

“Through our 360-degree impact model, a gift doesn’t just bring joy to one person. It supports the community. Every purchase helps us support local nonprofits and a tuition-free school in Togo (West Africa) for underserved children, so your gift not only delights your receiver but also creates a meaningful impact in the world.”

If you’re tired of emotionless products clamoring for your attention or want to choose gifts that support a greater cause, give Lantsa Gifts a try. 469.885.8015, lantsagifts.com
