For many pet owners, their pets are more than just animals; they are members of the family. The same is true for Pink Paw Pet Sitting Owner Morgan McKibbon, who began her business six years ago out of the love she had for her own dog.

“My own dog, a rescued boxer, suffers from both separation anxiety and isolation distress,” Morgan says. “When I moved to the Dallas area in 2013, I had to take her to doggy daycare whenever I needed to go practically anywhere. … When I picked her up, more often than not, she would be dirty and stressed out and sometimes had not eaten normally. It occurred to me that there must be other pet parents who had experienced the same problems and who would appreciate having someone to take care of their pets who understands how difficult it is to leave a pet and how important it is to be able to do so with someone who is caring, qualified and trustworthy. Over the last six years, I have worked to build my business with these goals in mind.”

Pink Paw Pet Sitting provides in-home care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and frogs.

“The visits we make to our clients’ homes may include feeding, medications, walks, litter-box cleaning and, most importantly, attention and love,” Morgan says.

Before sitting for animals, Morgan requires a meet-and-greet with pet owners to learn about each individual pet’s needs and routines.

“We also answer questions the owners may have,” she says. “We want our pet parents to feel confident that their pets will be loved and well cared for in their absence.”

Morgan says in-home pet sitting is preferable for many pets, especially cats, small pets, elderly pets and those that don’t respond well to other animals.

She encourages social animals be boarded at a facility where they can play and socialize.

“But, for the rest, we offer a service that cannot be duplicated outside of the pet’s own home,” she says.
