Quilt Show Returns to Bulloch Hall

The Quilt Guild returns to Bulloch Hall for their 39th Great American Cover-up Quilt Show.

The Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild Show is a highly regarded and well attended event that has been a March tradition in North Fulton County, all across Georgia and throughout the Southeast for many years. The pandemic changed that, but the Roswell Mayor and City Council requested that it be brought back to Bulloch Hall after a 5-year absence.  On March 13th the 39th Great American Cover-Up Quilt Show became a reality as the Bulloch Hall Guild met to award the Quilters Choice Award to “The Aviary” submitted by Diane Berdis for her husband who loves birds, pattern designed by Emily Taylor.  The Tiny Stitches Quilt Shop Gold Sponsor Award went to “Shoo!!” a beautiful floral original design quilt, created by Jan Cunningham.  Jan added the black birds perched above the flowers for a little whimsey effect!  Bulloch Hall hosted the Quilt Show over two weekends covering 7 days.  At the end of the show the Viewer”s Choice Award went to “Big Pink,” a fantastic pink elephant, created by Lisa Preston.  Lisa ice dyed almost all the fabric used in her quilt!

Quilting is an art form and The Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild composed of 40 talented and dedicated women who create masterpieces with design, stitching, and amazing fabrics that could be seen in the 110 quilts displayed.  Quilt Show Chair, Marie Wood, organized this display of lovely quilts in the historic setting of Bulloch Hall, the childhood home of Mittie Bulloch, mother of President Theodore Roosevelt and site of Mittie Bulloch’s wedding to Theodore Roosevelt Sr.

The Quilt Guild was founded in 1983 by ten women taking a Heritage Class in quilting at Bulloch Hall. The Guild has grown and now limits their membership to 65. Members participate in outreach to local, national and international needs through donation of quilts. They have donated quilts to children’s health care facilities, Veterans through Quilts of Valor, weather related disasters, Habitat for Humanity, the Drake House and more. Their quilts are full of love to help warm the recipient.
