The Real Robin Hood - Right On Target

To Those That Serve

While our own Grand Junction local, Robin Hood, doesn't rob from the rich to give to the poor she does help out our local heroes. This is Robin's first year of operating her store, Quilters Inspiration, located at 200 W Grand Avenue in Grand Junction. However, this is far from her first year of quilting. Robin has been quilting for 25 years and after working the same career for two decades, Robin decided to venture out on her own. Robin has been enjoying her new adventure and things are going well despite our current economic predicament.

Robin is dedicated to doing her part to make the world a better place. The project she is currently heading up is creating quilts that will be raffled off, with proceeds going to groups like Married to the Badge and the Fire Training Center. This year's sponsors include Colorado E-Bikes, Bank of Colorado, and A Season to Follow. These generous sponsors have donated funds or supplies to create quilt squares, which are then carefully pieced and sewn together by local quilters, who then return the completed squares to Quilters Inspiration. Robin then assembles the quilted squares in to quilt tops and completes the quilt. When I asked what inspired her to make these quilts Robin replied that she "just wants to give back. I hope to make this an annual thing every year."

If you're looking for a way to serve by helping create raffle quilts, you can find Quilters Inspiration at 200 W. Grand Avenue in Grand Junction. However, Quilters Inspiration does much more than simply selling quilting supplies and donating for fundraisers. The store hosts classes for all ages and recently hosted classes for local Girl Scout troops. They even host a book club once a month. This winter Quilters Inspiration will also display and sell products from local crafters and artists. Quilters Inspiration really is that. An inspiration.
