6 Tips For Raising Fit Kids

When we think about exercise, we mostly imagine working out in the gym, running on a treadmill, lifting weights or using one of the many beautiful trails here in Fort Collins for a run or a hike up Horsetooth.

But for kids, exercise means playing and being physically active. We are so incredibly lucky to live in a community with a multitude of events and opportunities to show our kids that fitness can be fun. This year, at the Fort Collins Fitness Festival, children's fitness will be featured with the Kids Fit Zone where they can explore different activities and even partake in the Fort Collins Circus Center. 

Circus arts such as dance, Acroyoga and aerial acrobatics can be valuable, noncompetitive activities. These activities cultivate intellectual, physio-spatial and kinetic awareness with psychological benefits of self-worth, self-confidence and self-motivation. By participating in such activities, students develop abilities in self-expression, collaboration and musicality—all while building strong bones and muscles and improving cardiovascular health.

Fitness Festival is the first of its kind and magnitude to hit northern Colorado, and it made history with the inaugural event in 2018! The ultimate goal of the Fort Collins Fitness Festival is to create a strong, health-minded community by uniting and empowering people through fitness.

At Fitness Festival, they work diligently year-round to create an awesome environment that encourages everyone to live their best lives. The live DJ and upbeat setting only add to the fun, making the environment positive and motivational. Bringing together top fitness gurus, new fitness technology and the most well-known companies in northern Colorado, Fitness Festival continues to bring an experience that you can be a part of year after year. Fort Collins Fitness Festival will take place in downtown Fort Collins, Sept. 21, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
