Conejo Valley budding artists will be excited to discover a new resource in town with the recent opening of The Raminfard School of Arts in Agoura Hills. Founded in 2000 in West Hollywood by renowned artist Daniel Raminfard, The Raminfard School of Arts provides high quality art instruction to students of all ages and abilities.
“I love that I can share my passion,” says Daniel, who began his artist’s journey early on—"my parents said by age 3 or 4 I was in love with art, pictures in books and all types of drawings.” Honing his skills for many years under the talented Iranian artist Hooshang Peyman, Daniel became a celebrated master painter, winning multiple awards, most notably from the Portrait Society of America and the prestigious California Art Club, and selling his portraits, landscapes and still life series to private international collections and for print, TV and film spots.
Originally starting his art school in his father’s garage, Daniel grew his business into a successful studio, teaching art to hundreds of students, including celebrities, through the years.
“My own personal life mission is to enrich people’s lives through drawing and painting,” he says. “That’s what I wake up to do—help someone to create art they love.”
Here, Daniel shares more about The Raminfard School of Arts.
Q. What type of art do you teach at The Raminfard School of Arts?
A. We offer private and group classes to students (ages 10 and up) who wish to develop their skills in oils, acrylics, charcoal, pencil and pastels.
Q. When are classes offered?
A. We offer regularly scheduled group classes to fit any schedule. Our two-hour in-person fine art classes are available during the week with convenient morning, afternoon and evening sessions to choose from. We also offer private art lessons by appointment.
Q. What kind of group classes do you offer?
A. We teach students to work with pencils, acrylics, oil, watercolors, graphite, charcoal and pastels. While taught in a group, these classes allow each student to focus on their individual projects.
Q. What can new students expect when attending in-studio classes?
A. We are a premium fine arts studio dedicated to helping teens and adults become better artists. Students will be instructed on how to create beautiful artwork in weeks. They will experience world-class instruction in a stunning luxury art studio.
Q. Do I need to have any art experience?
A. FEAR NOT!! Beginners are our specialty! Most of our students start with little to no experience. We welcome students of every level to our group and private art classes. Our teachers’ unique, personalized instruction allows beginner, intermediate and advanced artists alike to successfully create the art they are inspired to make.
Q. What supplies do I need?
A. No supplies are needed for the first class. After that, we provide students with limited drawing materials, but it is strongly recommended they purchase one of our drawing kits for practice in between studio sessions. Once students want to begin painting, they will need a painting kit.
Q. Do you offer art supplies for purchase?
A. Students can purchase or rent sample painting kits for $12.50 per two-hour lesson. We also sell premium art supplies, and we don’t offer anything that we ourselves don’t use. Our whole intent is to take the confusion out of finding the best art supplies, including charcoal, graphite, pastel, oil, watercolor and acrylics.
Q. Where are you located?
A. Our studio space is convenient to Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, Lake Sherwood and Calabasas. If you’d rather learn from the comforts of your own home or office, we will happily come to you! We offer private art classes both in-person and online.
Q. Do you have any upcoming special events?
A. We host monthly workshops on a variety of fine art subjects. Upcoming events include three workshops: figure drawing, head drawing and outdoor landscape. We also host Sip and Paint parties in studio and onsite at private gatherings. Sip and Paint events feature high-end, top-quality products, including a take-home paint kit and a really nice canvas. We provide step-by-step instruction on how to create your masterpiece.
