Long days and sunny skies mean it’s time to get outdoors and have some fun….on the wide-open road, on the water, and definitely on woodland trails. For over fifty years, the team at Street and Trail have helped customers find the best fit for their outdoor recreational and powersport vehicle needs. With five major brands (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Kymco) and a full stock of everything from utility and sport side by sides to dirt bikes to watercraft, Street and Trail carries something for everyone. Add to that the parts, service, and in-house financing departments, and you’ll find it’s truly a one-stop shop for all your outdoor recreational needs.
When talking with members of the Street and Trail team, it’s apparent that they share the same passion for the outdoors and enjoying the store’s products as their customers. “I used to race dirt bikes and four wheelers, so it’s always been in my blood. Now, I have two kids who are active in riding dirt bikes,” says finance manager Sabrina Rhodes.
“Just about every weekend there is a group of us from the store who go on rides,” adds Amber Newman, the store’s sales manager. “Once you get on something like this and get out there on the open road or you get out in the woods and get all muddy, it’s the best time.”
Because they love what they do and what they sell, the team at Street and Trail know they are providing customers with more than just a product. “When you walk in the store, you’re basically buying an experience,” says Amber. “You can come in as an individual looking for something for yourself or you can come in and find something for your entire family to do.”
“We sell fun,” agrees service manager Wendy Heath. “We want the customer to have the overall experience. It’s not just coming, buying a product, and leaving. We want our customers to feel welcome at all times and like it’s their home away from home.”
Team members work together and use their combined years of experience to match customers with the perfect unit to meet their needs. “Most people come in with an idea already in their mind of what they want to do, so we just guide them on what size or exactly what fits right,” says Amber. “Once we get an idea of what they want, and narrow it down to a specific unit, we go to the parts department and to get the accessories and then go to the service department so that they can discuss what the maintenance needs will be on the unit.”
One of the most popular units in the store is the Honda Talon. It comes as a two-seater or four-seater, has a 1,000 cc twin cylinder engine with 104 horsepower, and a dual clutch transmission with the option of driving using manual or fully automatic mode. It’s in the sports category and will run around 72 MPH. The Talon is perfect for mud, rocks, speed, and trails.
Another popular unit is the two-seater Kawaski KRX 1000. It has a 1,000 cc parallel-twin engine, 112 horsepower, and runs around 67 MPH. This fully automatic vehicle is perfect for mud, rocks, speed, and trails. The KRX 1000 comes in a Base Model, Trail Edition, and Special Edition. The Trail Edition comes with trailing arms, front/rear bumper, and a sport top. The Special Edition comes with audio system, winch, and special edition color/graphics.
Accessories? Yes please! “Ninety percent of the people who purchase something here don’t leave without some type of accessory added to the unit,” says Amber. “Everybody wants to make their unit their own.” Accessories available include, but are not limited to, lift kits, wheel and tire kits, bumpers, winches, front and rear windshields, bed extenders, four-point harnesses, audio systems, and light bars.
The Street and Trail team also enjoys staying active in the community. “We’re not just a motorcycle dealership,” says Amber. “We try to stay involved.” They do this through a variety of outreach programs including adopting a family for Christmas, sponsoring local sports teams, and hosting Road Rash - an annual event which raises money for the Augusta Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
