When you walk into the Rebellious Rose, there are a few constant things. You’ll hear uplifting Christian music, you’ll get a personal interaction with an owner who loves fashion, you’ll get a variety of styles, and you probably won’t leave empty-handed.
Vickie McMullin was born and raised in Houston, came to Plano for a job and moved to Fort Worth 15 years ago. After working in corporate America for decades, her family asked her if she would consider opening up a boutique. After all, she loved to shop, loved fashion, and with a degree in HR, she knew people. “I never felt quite happy with what I was doing. After joining Highridge Church, I felt like my purpose was to serve people.”
The Rebellious Rose opened three years ago, and McMullin hasn’t looked back. She says “I wanted to have a boutique that had a little bit of something for every woman whether they’re having a good day or a bad day or maybe they’re just going through a season in life.”
Vickie is the soul (and buyer!) of Rebellious Rose. She will purchase her products online but prefers to do her buying in person. She loves to chat with the vendors and feel the material. For her, it’s about having what women might want when they go shopping. “I like to be able to tell my customers, ‘you’re going to love this.’ The more comfortable we feel, the more we’re going to feel confident and feel better about ourselves. If our clothes feel good, we’re going to feel good.”
Part of the shopping experience at Rebellious Rose is to make women feel like they can do anything. There is a chime to let Vickie know someone has entered the store; face-based contact is a big part of what she offers customers. She says “when a customer comes in, for me, it’s about making them feel like all things can be conquered.” She carries jewelry, handbags, hats, belts, dresses, shirts, jeans and more. One side of the store is stocked with regular sizes, and the other side is dedicated to curvy sizes. Additionally, there are shoes available in up to size 11.

They offer a five-star program, which means after so many points garnered in-store, for every dollar, the customer will get a dollar amount off or a discount, or a freebie.
