In a recent study of 2,539 adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, participants were shown to have lost an average of 20.9% body weight after receiving 72 weekly 15 mg doses of tirzepatide. Semaglutide
Since its development by Novo Nordisk in 2012, semaglutide (the generic name for the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) has gained far greater popularity than tirzepatide. At nearly 26 million total prescriptions, it was the 19th most prescribed drug in 2023 alone.
Why has semaglutide become so popular? It’s not just its demonstrable effect on weight loss, with one recent study showing that participants lost an average of 33.7 pounds after receiving 68 weekly 2.4 mg doses. Retatrutide
Retatrutide (which is presently being developed by Zepbound creator Eli Lily) has been hailed as “a game changer in obesity pharmacology” by Biomolecules. Studies have demonstrated retatrutide’s ability to delay gastric emptying, reduce food intake, and promote weight loss more effectively than any other gut hormone therapy.
One particular recent study shows retatrutide’s incredible promise. Upon receiving just 48 weekly 12 mg doses of the drug, 83% of participants showed at least 15% weight reduction; 93% showed at least 10%; and 100% of participants showed at least 5%.
