Kira Marlee Doppel is a first-generation Serbian-Canadian-American and represented the City of Roswell in the Miss Georgia Teen USA pageant in June. This was her first time ever competing in a pageant and she made it to the final 15.
“I was very fortunate to have some amazing sponsors help me along my pageant journey,” says Kira, who just started her sophomore year at UGA. “One of those sponsors was Nadine Cousins with The Secret Spa. Nadine is so knowledgeable, kind, and fun! Most people don’t really love getting dental work done, but she made the environment so peaceful and relaxing! She has also had her own previous pageant experiences, so I felt like I could really relate to her and she knew what it was like to prepare for a pageant and what I needed.”
“I could not have done it without her and I felt so blessed knowing her and her team were rooting for me the whole way,” says Kira.
Kira is not a stranger to competition, having competed since the age of 10 as a fiddler, drummer, and dancer in traditional Irish music. She has won many National Championship titles at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil and has qualified to compete at the World Championships for seven consecutive years. She competed in the prestigious Fiddler of London and the World Championships in Wexford, Ireland last month. At UGA, she is pursuing her passion of journalism and sports media. She will also continue working with the nonprofit organization The Phoenix School of Irish Arts as a teacher, as well as raising money and supporting survivors of domestic violence with her sorority Alpha Chi Omega. When Kira is not pursuing one of her many interests, she enjoys traveling, reading, and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends.
