There is something special about the evolution of a company founded by a merging of opportunity and passion, and the story behind the Republic of Paws is a tale of just that…. or should we say “tail?”
In 2009, Jason and Molly Smith opened a pet specialty web store which eventually expanded into a retail boutique for the purpose of office space and fulfilling orders. However, that small space grew big dreams as Jason and Molly sought to become involved in the local community, creating a welcoming environment and space where pet owners and their furry friends could connect and find products to meet their pet’s needs.
Focus on Nutrition
Shortly after opening their boutique, the Smiths’ miniature schnauzer Jager began having major health issues and severe allergies. After doing a deep dive into pet nutrition and making a diet change for their pup, they discovered that after just a short time on a raw and fresh food diet, Jager’s health quickly improved.
“Nutrition is now our passion,” explains Molly, “I’ve seen the difference that it makes for a dog’s quality of life and length of life, and we want to encourage other pet owners to do the research and be able to advocate on behalf of their own pets.”
The Republic of Paws has been proudly offering fresh foods for pets ever since.
Quality Grooming
With an eagerness to provide the best pet products available to the residence of Colorado Springs, ROP continued to grow, and in 2011 Republic of Paws moved to a bigger location in Old Colorado City. Shortly thereafter in 2016, at the urging of many of their customers, ROP opened a grooming salon.
“We have worked to use the best products and tools in the industry to make our grooming a place where clients can come and get the care and personalized process that they need.”
Republic of Paws is the perfect example of a successful business driven forward by a genuine passion and a mission to take care of the local community.

Republic of Paws currently operates three retail stores in pet-friendly Colorado Springs. Their Stetson Hills and South Academy locations offer compassionate grooming services on-site and for customers in the Old Colorado City, their Salon & Day Spa is located just one block west of their retail boutique in Clock Tower Plaza.
