When many people think of home, they often think of family. For Carole and Arthur Peck, they have found both at Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community.
“We have been here for about three years now and we just love it,” says Carole. "We just can't imagine living anywhere else at this point in our lives."
Carole, who is 82, and her 85-year old husband, Arthur, are among the many happy residents of Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community. This all-inclusive, 55-plus community offers residents resort-style accommodations complete with a gym, library, 150-seat theater, and an elegant dining room with meals prepared by a professional chef seven days a week. The community also has activities such as fitness classes, happy hours, outdoor excursions, and more.
Red Rock Pointe features 128 apartment homes, offering a variety of layouts from studios to spacious three-bedroom units. Each residence is thoughtfully designed with conveniences like a full-sized kitchen, a full-sized washer and dryer, and the added benefit of weekly housekeeping services.
For community manager Glenn Jordan, what makes this place feels like home is not just the physical attributes of the community but also the people who keep it running every day.
"What makes our community unique is our staff," says Glenn. "It's the service, excellence and kindness. Those are our core values here at Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community and it always has been."
Glenn says it's also the tradition of the wider Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) company that the managers at each community live on site. He says it's a joy to work alongside his wife, Elizabeth Stauffer-Jordan. And because the couple also lives at the community, it makes a big difference in the level of service and dedication they can provide their residents.
"We really see them as our own parents in a way," says Glenn. "This is our home too and since we live here, we do everything with a personal touch. It's not just a 9 to 5 job for us where we clock out every day and say see you later. We are part of this community."
According to the US Census Bureau, Americans aged 65 and older will make up one in five of the population by the year 2030. And when it comes to finding a home, many in this generation are now turning to community living. Elizabeth says she is not surprised because with the older population now staying more healthy and active than ever, they are also seeking a place where they can maintain strong relationships as they age.
"I compare it to the show ‘The Golden Girls’ where the ladies are always gathering in the kitchen eating pie. Here, the heart of our community is also in our dining and social areas," says Elizabeth. "Our residents really connect with one another and it's wonderful to see. We just started this project called ‘Legacy Journaling’ where people write their stories and share them with one another. Many of the residents are creating amazing connections through their stories and we just love it."
For Carole and Arthur Peck, they also had a great story about why they decided to make Red Rock Pointe their home in the first place.
"We were coming here to visit, and we ended up chatting with this one sweet lady and she said ‘I want you all to move here’ so we did," exclaims Carole. "Everyone here has been so friendly and nice, and we really do have the best managers. They truly make us feel special."
Glenn added that this community is also special because of its inviting and comfortable environment, which feels more like a neighborhood than a traditional retirement community. Similar to its two sister properties in Southern Nevada, Red Rock Pointe is thoughtfully designed to offer the look and feel of contemporary living. This approach helps residents settle in seamlessly, providing a sense of continuity and ease as they transition to this new chapter of life.
Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community is holding a Grand Open House on March 19, where the public can learn more about what this retirement community has to offer. In the meantime, those who already call this place home, like Carole and Arthur, say they are not going anywhere anytime soon.
"Our kids are all out of state so the people here have become our family," says Carole. "Art joked that he's not leaving here until they carry him out. And I agree. It's a great place to live."
NOTE: The Grand Open House for Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community will take place on Wednesday March 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 4445 South Grand Canyon Drive, Las Vegas. The public is invited to tour the community, meet the managers, staff and residents, while enjoying tasty treats. RSVP by March 15th to 702-779-0156.
