Rhett Walker, a Christian singer and songwriter, is a native to the CSRA. Both he and his wife April grew up in the Aiken area. “We just moved back to the CSRA from Nashville three years ago. All of our family lives out here,” says Rhett. He and his wife have four kids together, Rileigh, Jett, Autumn, and Cash. They homeschool their children and love to travel.

“I have wanted to do music since I was young. I would stand in front of the mirror playing guitar and pretend that I was on stage,” says Rhett. Rhett would lead worship at churches on Sundays and Wednesdays trying to make ends meet by doing music. “One day my mom said, ‘If you wanted to be a surfer, you’d move to the ocean. Maybe you should move to Nashville,’ so my wife, both of our kids, and I packed up and moved to Nashville,” says Rhett. After two years, Rhett had signed a deal and put out his first single, When Mercy Found Me, which was nominated for a Grammy.

“The reason I do what I do is, I’ve seen redemption in mine and April’s story. We were teenagers having babies and not in the statistics to make it but, this coming July will be our 18th anniversary. It’s a reminder that nothing is impossible. We get in the way of ourselves all the time or we try to slow down what God’s plans may be for us. My last single is Gospel Song, where I sing about hearts being set free and happiness, joy, and peace and the only kind that will sustain you comes from Jesus. The world is looking for that but we know where it really comes from. I’ve always wanted to be the blue collar artist and remind people that there’s joy out there to be found,” says Rhett.

Rhett’s newest single, All Joy No Stress, is now available on the Gospel Song - EP. He says that All Joy No Stress is a reminder for him and his wife. In 2020, everything was canceled, “All my shows and tours were canceled. It felt like everything was taken from us. We felt like we really needed to put things in gear, I was bringing up the old saying ‘all gas, no break’. The more we thought about it, we decided that that’s no way to live either. We wanted to look at the silver lining, we were back home and with our family, so instead of all gas, no break, we want to try to live all joy, no stress,” says Rhett.
