Tradition Physical Therapy is Cullman’s newest physical therapy clinic, founded by Roger Gurley, PT, DPT.
Gurley attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, graduating with a bachelor of science in psychology in 2003. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2006.
Gurley said he became interested in physical therapy after injuring his ankle while playing basketball in high school and experienced, firsthand, how important physical therapy is for any type of rehabilitation after an injury. Being involved with returning athletes to their sports as well as patients back to independence, is his passion.
He utilizes manual therapy techniques, functional exercises, Kinesio taping, dry needling, blood flow restriction and therapeutic activities in order to restore patients back to optimal function.
But of course, his No. 1 job is being a dad to his daughter Carsyn.
In his spare time, he said, he enjoys playing golf and cheering on Alabama athletics.
