Timeless Jewelry Returns

Craig Husar shares how global influences shape jewelry trends.

Standing along the shores of Lake Como, Italy, it’s impossible not to feel inspired. The light dances across the water, historic villas rise from the hillsides, and everywhere you look there is elegance. Italy has always been a global center of fashion and design, and during my recent visit, I was reminded how much the romance of travel influences the jewelry and watch trends we see back home.

As the Chief Romance Officer at Craig Husar Fine Diamonds, I pay close attention to these global influences because jewelry is more than style. It is the language of love, celebration, and personal expression. And right now, there are several exciting trends shaping the way women are wearing jewelry and receiving it as meaningful gifts.

The Golden Comeback

One of the most striking trends I’ve noticed throughout Europe is the powerful return of yellow gold. For years, white metals dominated engagement rings and fashion jewelry, but yellow gold is back in a big way.

Walking through boutiques in Italy, it’s clear that yellow gold is once again the metal of warmth, confidence, and classic beauty. Italian designers have always understood how gold complements the skin and enhances gemstones, and their influence is spreading globally.

We are also seeing a bold resurgence of 1980s inspired gold. Chunky chains, oversized bracelets, and statement pieces are returning with confidence. These designs are expressive, powerful, and unapologetically glamorous.

Even more exciting is the rise of mixed metals. Women are no longer choosing between gold or silver. They are blending both, creating layered looks that feel modern and versatile.

Diamonds for Fashion and Forever

Another trend gaining momentum is the growing presence of lab grown diamonds in fashion jewelry. While natural diamonds remain the ultimate symbol of rarity and enduring love, lab grown diamonds are becoming increasingly popular for everyday fashion pieces.

Many women enjoy mixing the two worlds. A natural diamond engagement ring may represent the once-in-a-lifetime commitment, while lab grown diamonds can add sparkle to fashion earrings, bracelets, or right-hand rings worn daily.

One of the most meaningful trends I’m seeing in romantic gift giving is the rise of eternity bands. These rings, featuring diamonds all the way around the finger, are becoming a favorite choice for anniversaries and milestone celebrations. They symbolize continuous love with no beginning and no end.

There is something incredibly powerful about gifting an eternity band. It represents the journey a couple has taken together and the promise of everything still to come.

The Elegant Evolution of Ladies Watches

Another wonderful trend making a comeback is the return of ladies’ wristwatches. For many years watches were often overshadowed by smartphones, but today women are rediscovering the sophistication of wearing a beautifully crafted timepiece.

My travels to Switzerland have reinforced just how vibrant the watch industry remains. Swiss watchmaking combines engineering precision with artistic design, and brands are creating remarkable pieces for women.

Brands like Rolex, Breitling, TAG Heuer, and Frédérique Constant produce elegant watches that feel both modern and timeless. One noticeable shift is that ladies’ watches are becoming smaller, more refined, and designed to be worn like jewelry.

These timepieces are no longer just functional. They are becoming true “arm candy,” often paired with bracelets and bangles to complete a layered wrist look.

Jewelry That Tells a Love Story

What I love most about these trends is that they all support something deeper than fashion. Jewelry becomes meaningful when it carries a story.

Perhaps it’s a husband surprising his wife with an eternity band on their anniversary. Maybe it’s a layered bracelet collection built over years of shared experiences. Or a watch given to mark a meaningful milestone.

Every piece becomes part of a personal history.

Travel reminds me of this constantly. Standing in Italy, surrounded by centuries of art and craftsmanship, I’m reminded that jewelry has always been tied to romance and memory.

When our clients choose jewelry, they aren’t simply choosing an accessory. They’re choosing something that will mark a chapter in their lives.
