Red roses are the gold standard for Valentine's Day. We asked our friends at Hamilton Flowers how to be a smart consumer. They offer roses in various colors so of course, red is not the only choice. Instead of roses they do mixed arrangements with hydrangeas, roses, stock, and just a very nice upscale mix of flowers starting around $125. You can always add on a box of chocolates starting around $20.
"To get the most of your fresh flower arrangement, make sure to change out the water on a daily basis. Also, cut the stems about 1/4 inch every other day when you do change the water out," says Irina of Hamilton Flowers Luxury Events.
"The best time to order flowers for Valentine's Day is the first week in February," she says. "The closer it gets to the holiday our costs go up, therefore the prices are subject to change!"
