What do golf carts, white tigers and hot air balloons all have in common? Ideas that come from the mastermind businessman, Gary Grim the Roswell legacy he has created for the past 40 years.
When he moved to Roswell in 1987 he had procured a lifetime’s worth of knowledge and prowess in the automobile sales industry. Eighty hour work weeks and unrelenting ambition have a penchant for producing a perfect cocktail for success. With amusing gimmicks such as welcoming a traveling circus featuring two ultra-rare white tigers, helicopter rides and hot air balloon excursions Mr. Grim was well on his way to business fame in Roswell.
However, after owning and selling five top producing Roswell car dealerships, he was ready for something new. He just hadn’t found the perfect product yet. “I rented a home on the beach for a month so that my son-in-law could return from active duty in Afghanistan and relax with family. I got bored of the beach one day and spent $900 for a golf cart for a week. I found myself driving down the road thinking, this is a lot of money to rent a golf cart, there’s got to be more to this than meets the eye”, says Mr. Grim.
With this, he and his son Ryan opened Golf Cars of Canton. With daughter Lindsey Schafer running operations, the store quickly became a Black and Gold Elite member with Club Car signifying the highest designation for sales, service and customer support. “We are a small family run business and in Roswell, word of mouth has served us well. The key is to provide exceptional small town service where the customer comes first, our loyal customers tell their friends where to get the best deal and service”, says Lindsey.
With the opening of Golf Cars of Woodstock and the workings of a new location back in Roswell, the business has come full circle. Part of this success has been achieved by giving back to the community. “We love sponsoring “Hole-In-Ones for golf cart giveaways, supporting Must Ministries through fundraisers and working with Make-A-Wish Foundation to see kids smile when we present them with their very own golf cart. We try to give back and we find that every time we do, it comes back to us ten-fold”, Mr. Grim relays.
