Swani González wants to take you to Spain.
Her dream is that you experience Spain through the many layers of flavor the country has to offer.

When she and her design partner Abe Ruiz visited Canton Street, they immediately recognized the strong community vibe and they felt right at home. “Abe and I saw that what was missing was a Spanish Tapas and Wine restaurant. We knew it was going to be received with curiosity, open arms and great appetite,” says Swani. “We carefully made our restaurant home at Plum Village because we found the vibrant area to have the best neighbors and a magical setting for our patio. It is reminiscent of the laid-back Spanish lifestyle — of sitting outside drinking a Tinto de Verano or one of our Homemade Sangrias.”
And, this month and next, Madrid Spanish Tavern is hosting the monthly Underground Dining Club with a five-course dinner and wine pairings, and an introduction to up to seven wines by a team member from the winemaker. “We’ll find out about the family behind the wine, the regions, vineyards and characteristics of the grapes and mouth,” says Swani. This dinner is held on the first Wednesday of every month and members enjoy other benefits throughout the month.
To complete the sensory experience, the restaurant will host Thursday Flamenco Nights and on Friday, live Spanish guitar music. “We want to share more of the Spanish heritage, music, lifestyle and folklore with our guests,” Swani says.
Of course, the best way to experience a country is through its food. The taverna’s fall menu will include new flavors, from a hot Caldo Madrileno to an enticing seasonal dessert. New paired wine flights will be curated for guests and the gorgeous wine wall is a landmark in itself! Learn about and savor select wines from Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Chile and Italy.
