On Thanksgiving Day in Manhattan, the annual MHK Turkey Trot 5k race transforms the streets of the Little Apple into a lively sea of runners, all eager to kick off their holiday with a gobble.
Families, friends, and avid runners alike gather at the starting line at 12th & Moro in Aggieville, adorned in festive attire, ready to tackle the flat & fast 3.1-mile course. The crisp autumn air is filled with anticipation and excitement as the race begins, weaving through Aggieville, City Park & downtown.
“Seeing 1,000 people run together is my favorite thing about it,” says race director & co-owner of the Manhattan Running Company, Ben Sigle. “It truly is thrilling to see families come together on Thanksgiving and really enjoy themselves.”
Upon crossing the finish line, a sense of accomplishment radiates from every participant. Medals and smiles abound as runners celebrate their achievements. Post-race festivities offer a chance to refuel with refreshments, and a great start to this wonderful holiday.
