OTP Endurance Sports was founded in 2017 by a group of friends Elizabeth Greer, Jason Stine, Dru Satori, and Lee Karp who worked together but also liked to swim, bike, run, together. Four friends became ten and ten became 20 and was continuing to grow as they met each week.
They met with the owners of Gate City Brewing and were instantly excited to partner. Since 2018, they have been running and riding in Roswell from Gate City Brewing. OTP Endurance Sports is an all-inclusive running club that meets on Thursday nights at 6:15 pm with a run at 6:30, rain or shine. The run is between 3-4 miles with opportunities to make it shorter or longer based on what you would like to run.
There are avid marathoners, joggers and walkers. All paces are welcome. After the run, the group heads to Gate City for a beer, and to network, and socialize. The cycling group meets on Monday nights for a ride and a beer from Gate City. At least twice a month there's a have a potluck after the run with events throughout the year like the recent Chili cook-off, a Turkey Drop run where members bring turkeys to donate, a white elephant party in December as well as a Christmas Eve run, and cookie exchange!
"I wasn't really a runner until I got older. By around 40, I ran a mile or two on the treadmill in the am before work," says Michelle Rodabaugh of Roswell. "I did random races with friends and would sometimes run with a teacher friend after work. I didn't consider myself a runner.
"I was thinking that everyone else would be better than me. There were people who ran triathlons and done ironman races, but every single one of them made me feel like my few miles on the treadmill in the morning was an accomplishment. They welcomed me and truly made me feel like a runner. People say that running is like therapy. I agree."
