The Rural Mobile Food Distribution program cares for an underserved population in the rural areas of Alachua, Bradford, Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy Counties. Catholic Charities food van, program coordinator and teams of volunteers bring food and help to people in these areas who cannot make the journey into town. Clients are provided with food monthly; supplemented with gift cards for supplies, personal hygiene products, pet food, gift baskets for the holidays, Christmas toys for children and school supplies.
Distribution sites are Alachua County- Hawthorne, Micanopy and Waldo Bradford County- Starke, Hampton and Melrose Dixie country- Cross City and Fanning Springs Gilchrist County- Bell Levy County -Bronson, Otter Creek and Williston
The Rural Mobile Outreach coordinator provides medical referrals to our partners at the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic for anyone in need of basic medical attention. The UF Mobile Outreach Clinic will arrange an appointment and Catholic Charities and the UF Mobile Outreach Clinic van work in conjunction for our families in need.
