Rustic Meets Elegant

The Quigley Team welcomes us home with a tour of a local modern farmhouse.

Stylish and functional. Timeless and practical. The modern farmhouse style is the perfect marriage of sleek and comfortable. “Modern farmhouses are trending now because of their simplicity and clean modern lines, along with a romance with the past that brings people back to their roots. Amidst the exquisite design features, there is still a homey, warm feeling,” explains Nancy Sones, realtor and member of The Quigley Team.

Features of this multiple award winning 2016 Homearama home include bright open spaces, luxury finishes, generous amounts of millwork and molding details, stunning fixtures, a spacious gourmet kitchen and a beautifully landscaped outdoor living area.

“This home brings elegant and farmhouse together. Everything flows and creates a timeless, welcoming living space,” Nancy adds.

Outdoor Living: The outdoor area becomes a seamless extension of the indoors with a rustic stamped concrete patio leading to a peaceful water feature, comfortable seating and a grand stone fireplace. “Having your covered outdoor space further from the house allows for more natural light indoors,” Nancy points out. Even the landscaping reflects the union of farmhouse and traditional style, with meadow plantings mixing with structured evergreens to provide privacy.

Kitchen: The kitchen is both a gathering place and a focal point of the house. Jackie Quigley, leader of The Quigley Team relates, “The tiled backsplash is like a piece of art that adds a lot of personality to the space, but they also thought about functionality. All the electric outlets are beneath the cabinets so that the beautiful mosaic artwork is not disturbed.” The kitchen is designed to be seamless, combining efficiency and beauty as reflected in the convenient and spacious walk-in pantry that looks like one of the cabinets. Soapstone counters, wide oak plank floors and a farmhouse sink adorned with furniture legs beneath, all provide a  rustic feel that  effortlessly pairs with modern upscale appliances, lighting, and substantial ceiling molding.

Powder Room: A refined marble countertop is contrasted with a rustic faucet and simple shaker-style door fronts. The window treatment boasts a nice texture providing added interest and the serene palette has a calming effect. Crystal doorknobs and planked doors hearken back to older homes. Just outside the bathroom, the grasscloth wallpaper and the board and batten wainscoting continue the simplicity and textures of a farmhouse.

Staircase: The stately, wide staircase, classic baluster, and subtle, coved wall moldings have a traditional feel and contrast well with the farmhouse flooring. Natural light and a cozy window seat greet you on the landing where you can stop to enjoy a fabulous view of both levels.

Dining Area: The ceiling in the dining room is reminiscent of a barn roof and is coupled with elegant wall treatment and a striking, traditional chandelier. The dining area connects directly to the living area, perfect for both formal entertaining and everyday gatherings.

Find a Home to Fit Your Style: The Quigley Team serves home buyers and sellers in Mason and surrounding areas, and can help you find the 'dream home' that fits your style, just like they  did for these homeowners, Ashley and Mike.
