Sabores Latinos Guinness Stout BBQ Sauce

Our personal favorite? The barbecue chicken (and maybe the plantains, too!). What makes it so special? It’s all about the sauce. With grilling season upon us, Chef Fredy shared his famous Guinness Stout BBQ Sauce recipe so you can wow your guests right in your own backyard. ¡Buen provecho!

Ingredients:

2 white onions, diced
1 head of garlic, minced
1 large minced shallot
½ cup  tomato paste
½ cup ketchup
8 oz Guinness (Extra Stout recommended)
½ cup grape jelly
1 cup molasses
¼ cup orange juice
4 TBSP chili powder
Ground Allspice (to taste)
Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Directions:

In a large pot, sauté the onions, garlic, and shallots until translucent. Stir in the tomato paste and ketchup, cooking for 2–3 minutes.

Incorporate the Guinness, grape jelly, orange juice, and molasses. Whisk over medium heat until the jelly has completely melted.

Add the chili powder and ground allspice. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the sauce thickens.

Finish by adding salt and pepper. Taste and adjust the allspice as needed.

Yields approximately 4 cups
