In the pizza industry, Valley City restauranteur, Jason Samosky, is a bit of a local celebrity. Maybe you’ve seen the Samosky’s Homestyle Pizzeria founder on several of his Fox 8 New Day Cleveland appearances over the years showcasing their specialty pizzas. But unless you’ve visited the restaurant to see their impressive wall of awards, you may not realize that Samosky’s has been recognized on a national level five times.

Their Philly Cheesesteak Pizza was their first and most awarded pizza on the menu. “That was the award, the pizza, that built the restaurant. The Philly Cheesesteak Pizza is, by far, our No. 1 best-seller,” says Adam Kravec, a partner at Samosky’s.

But Samosky’s isn’t only a pizza shop. They offer a full homestyle dinner menu as well. “We’re not only pizzas,” says Adam. “We have a vast menu and even do our own smoking in-house. We smoke brisket, pork and ribs for our dining menu and we use the pork for our pulled pork pizza as well.”

Other items such as clams and the newly-added stuffed peppadews are included on their appetizer menu. The stuffed peppadews, which are filled with bacon, ricotta cream cheese and chives, are already a big hit with customers.

Another newly added feature to the menu is the Pork-on-Pork nachos. This different dish is served with a huge helping of smoked pulled pork over homemade pork rinds. “We truly are homestyle cooking. We do everything from scratch,” Adam adds as he talks about the unique pork nacho entrée.

“Another big thing that we do, and we do very well,” he says, “is a hand-breaded fish fry, along with pierogis, that we start in February every year and run through Lent.”

As we talk, Adam makes it very clear that Samosky’s has built its stellar reputation and successful business by catering to their long-time customers while continuously pushing forward with additions to the menu, kitchen, restaurant and property. For instance, this summer the restaurant will add a new, wood-fired pizza oven to their outdoor area, which will allow them to feature even more newly created specialty pizzas.

Another thing that Samosky’s has never lost sight of is their roots. In 1910, Samosky's opened as a bakery located on Fleet Ave. & E. 61st St. in Cleveland. To this day, the bakery side of the business does incredibly well as they stick to old favorites like their snuggle puff pastries, scones, decorated cookies and whoopie pies.

If you haven’t made the trip out to Samosky’s in Valley City yet, do you and your family a favor and make the drive out to 6738 Center Rd (Rt. 303) to discover for yourself what unique and award-winning pizzas taste like!
