Sanitas Brewing Co., founded in 2013 in Boulder, started with a vision of creating a community-centric craft brewery aiming to connect people through exceptional beer and shared experiences. Over the years, Sanitas Brewing has evolved in several significant ways, mirroring the changes in the craft beer industry itself. One of the most notable shifts has been the move towards additional taprooms, focusing on creating spaces that go beyond being just places to enjoy beer.
This past June, Sanitas Brewing expanded its footprint by opening a second brewery and taproom location in Englewood, Colorado. By previously participating in the annual Englewood Block Party, the Sanitas team was able to glean from Englewood’s residents that they were ready for something new, and they decided that the community was the perfect spot for a new location. The decision to expand to Englewood was rooted in the brewery's commitment to community building. Englewood represented a growing community eager for connection and high-quality offerings and Sanitas Brewing aims to replicate its success in Boulder by creating a third-space for Englewood residents—a place for co-working, connection, and, of course, great beer.
Sanitas Brewing continues to brew and serve its crowd favorites alongside some brand-new recipes with a pristine research and discovery brewing facility at their new Englewood location. Sanitas’ Bandito Mexican Lager is one of their longest-running recipes and has become a crowd and team favorite over the years. McDevitt Taco Supply has been partnering with Sanitas since day one in Boulder by slinging delectable tacos on their patio, and the flavor of the Bandito Mexican Lager is distinct, crisp and refreshing from the addition of McDevitt’s handmade tortillas to the brew.
Some new partnerships have also come to fruition with the new Sanitas Englewood location. The addition of Atlas Coffee to the new location has allowed the brewery to open up its brand to a whole new market. Atlas sources their beans from farmers with whom they can build genuine relationships and Sanitas encourages those coffees to be shared with community members in their comfortable space. Atlas opens at 7 a.m. daily and Sanitas’ beer starts flowing at noon.
What pairs better with a cold craft beer than a juicy burger? Sanitas has also partnered with a new food vendor in Bryan Dayton and Samuel McCandless (Oak, Corrida, Belotta; all in Boulder) for their brand-new burger concept, C-Burger, at their new location. Colorado-sourced beef burgers are not only mouthwateringly delicious at C-Burger, but are also raised with regenerative ranching–a practice that revives grazing lands, promotes soil health and captures carbon emissions. There is also a tasty portobello mushroom burger for the veggie-inclined.
Sanitas Brewing has always played a part in building community since its inception with community-based events and giving back. One of their most popular events has been their Ski Swap in Boulder for the past three years. Several ski brands come and set up shop for ski buffs to shop and buy, sell and trade their own gear. It's a convivial annual event that celebrates ski season where you can shop from brands and locals alike with live music playing and the beer flowing plentifully. While this will be the third annual Ski Swap in Boulder, the first-ever Englewood version will be on Sunday, November 12th from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Always community-minded, Sanitas Brewing has always found ways to give back and connect with their neighbors through their beer recipes and the new Englewood location is no exception. Their Everyday Mountain Pilsner gives back to Boulder Open Space Conservancy and their restoration efforts on Mount Sanitas. The Earl's Out! Earl Grey Lemon Sour is Sanitas’ yearly pride month beer, donating partial proceeds to Out Boulder County. They are currently working on a re-release of their Cheers From Englewood Hazy IPA, with which they will give a portion of draft proceeds to New Treks, a Denver-based organization that teaches the foundations of adventure to youth, cultivating a new generation of outdoor stewardship.
While Sanitas Brewing wants to continue to expand primarily through adding more taprooms to the right communities, they’ve also recently reached their distribution footprint in Nebraska and continue to widen their reach across Colorado. While they continue to grow, they continue to be more than just a craft brewery, but a catalyst for creativity and a cornerstone of Colorado’s craft beer culture, fostering connections and raising a glass to the future.
