Authentic Flavors of Argentina

An Interview with Silvia Edwards of Buenos Aires Café Galleria

Argentine cuisine is known for its savory meats, fine wines, and irresistible dulce de leche desserts. Located in the Hill Country Galleria, Buenos Aires Café offers an authentic Argentine culinary experience to central Texas. Infused with influences from Spanish, Italian, African, and Indigenous origins, Buenos Aires Café Galleria transports your palate to Argentina through traditional dishes and drinks.

We had the privilege of interviewing Silvia Edwards, a co-owner alongside her husband Luis Fidanza, whose passionate vision seeks to bring the community together with a touch of Argentina. As she shares, "Buenos Aires Café Galleria is inspired by the desire to share our culture and love of food with our surrounding Austin community." With a homemade menu and rustic yet elegant decor, she worked with her team to bring the feel of downtown Buenos Aires to the Texas Hill Country.

At Buenos Aires Café Galleria, the commitment to authenticity is captured in their culinary philosophy, where local and organic ingredients meet Argentine cuts of beef. Voted as the "Best Latin American restaurant" in Austin by the Austin Chronicle, the menu showcases family recipes passed down through generations. Reflecting on their culinary success, Silvia emphasizes, "It's the care and love we infuse into our dishes that resonate with our diners."

Every seat offers a chance to create lasting memories. "Whether you are enjoying happy hour on our bright and sunny, pet-friendly patio, indulging in a craft drink while watching a soccer game at the beautifully polished bar, or cozying up with your special someone in one of our booths, there isn't a bad seat in the house!" This sense of belonging solidifies the restaurant as a cherished cornerstone within West Austin that bridges communities and cultures.

The future holds exciting new additions, from special pastries and private catering to semi-private event spaces. "We're honored that members of the Austin community come to us to get a taste of home and to experience Argentinean sporting events." As the café expands its offerings, Sundays are also reserved for brunch, and the restaurant's Instagram (@bacafe.galleria) provides glimpses into upcoming events.

"We have been very fortunate to be embraced by both the local community and our Argentinean brothers and sisters. We look forward to continuing to serve our guests and developing relationships," Silvia shares, encapsulating the spirit of community that thrives within Buenos Aires Café Galleria.
