CFISD Athletes Sign Letters of Intent to Play College Athletics

Eight CFISD athletes signed letters of intent to play collegiate athletics. From Bridgeland Terrance Cullian, football – United States Air Force Academy; Andrew Maleski, football – Texas A&M; and Conner Weigman, football – Texas A&M. From Cy-Park Owen Pewee, football – UT at San Antonio. From Cy-Ranch Chibi Nwajuaku, football – Rice; and Bryce Simpson, football – Baylor. And from Langham Creek Akyra Hodges, basketball – Southwestern University; and Paul Oyewale, football – TCU.

Cards of Hope help CFISD Families Enjoy the Holiday Season

The CFISD department of student services teamed with Cy-Fair Helping Hands to help several district families enjoy the holidays with a little something extra through its Families in Transition program. The group collected more than 400-$50 gift cards and distributed them to secondary students experiencing homelessness.

CFISD Theatre Arts Students Excel at Texas Thespian Festival

More than 130 theatre arts students from 10 CFISD high schools received first and second place rankings at the 2021 Texas Thespian Festival in November and have qualified for the national competition, sponsored by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), scheduled for June at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Bridgeland Star Named National High School Quarterback of the Year

Bridgeland football standout Conner Weigman was named the National High School Quarterback of the Year by the National Quarterback Club. Weigman, who is regarded as one of the nation’s top-ranked quarterbacks for the Class of 2022, will be recognized during the 2021 National Quarterback Club Awards Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in February. Weigman, a three-year starter for Bridgeland, helped lead the Bears to an 11-3 record and appearance in the Division II-6A Region II final this season.

VOLLEYBALL STANDOUTS EARN CITYWIDE, ALL-STATE, ALL-AMERICAN ACCOLADES

Numerous CFISD volleyball players earned greater Houston, statewide and national postseason honors for the 2021 season. Among them were Bridgeland senior Mallorie Garner. She was named the All-Greater Houston Player of the Year by the Houston Chronicle, made the VYPE Houston Magazine first team, earned all-state honors by the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) and made the Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association (GHVCA) postseason team. Cy-Ranch High School senior Kailee Gims and Cy-Falls senior Abbie Smith were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American team.
