Cedar Hill Preparatory School in Somerset, NJ is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone for its House Leadership Team — a 2nd place finish at the 2026 Future Problem Solving New Jersey (FPSNJ) Community Project Competition, earning them a coveted spot at the International Competition at Indiana University this June.
Competing against 22 teams from across New Jersey, CHP's House Leadership Team presented a year-long community service initiative developed in partnership with Pine Grove Manor. Using the six-step Future Problem Solving process, students identified real community challenges and implemented thoughtful, measurable solutions — demonstrating that meaningful change starts young.
The team is made up of eight talented students: Nico Garofalo, Lily Trotta, Samaira Doshi, Sahasra Genupur, Avya Kumar, Aanya Vig, Shivad Desai, and Alex Peng.
Project Coach and Grade 7 & 8 Math Teacher Sangeeta Lekhi captured the spirit of the achievement perfectly: "This achievement goes far beyond a competition. This project helped our students understand that leadership, empathy, and service can create real change in the lives of others."
For families in the Bridgewater and Somerset area seeking a school that goes beyond academics, Cedar Hill Prep's House Leadership Team is proof that CHP students don't just learn about the world — they work to improve it.
