Before, this master bathroom felt cramped, with a large box tub hidden in the corner. But designer and general contractor Eryn Caskey says a complete layout change made a standalone soaker tub centerstage while making the room appear more spacious.
"My favorite thing about this bathroom is the layout," she says. "We took an otherwise awkward design, relocated the tub making it the focal point in the room and utilized as much space as we could to build a large shower enclosure."
The clean white shaker cabinets with quartz and shiplap made the space comfortable and inviting but keeps it simple and elegant. Every detail was looked after all the way down to the clean and somewhat modern black fixtures, the tiled wood-look floor, large white subway tiles in the shower and the hexagon marble on the shower floor.
"Even planning finishing touches made me love this room even more," Eryn says. "Bath salts, apothecary jars and white towels are a must for a spa feeling."
Eryn says go with your gut picking out fixtures for your master bath. "Over-thinking and looking at too many choices oftentimes takes the fun out of planning and causes undue stress," she says.
Some other tips for picking out serene fixtures and trimmings for your master bath:
• Look for timeless styles and clean lines, keeping it simple makes it a much cleaner and enjoyable space.
• For tile, larger format tiles give a more spacious and luxurious feel.
• Nothing says relaxation like a long warm bath, so go for that stand-alone soaker tub.
• Opt for a large shower enclosure with as much glass as possible.
• Pair warm and cool. Whether it be on the walls in the paint color or the floors, bring something organic and natural into the space to break up all of the smooth white.
