Confidence While Away

Chris Eidschun brings discipline, experience and peace of mind to homeownership

For Chris Eidschun, service has never been a role—it has been a way of life.

Whether responding to emergencies as a firefighter, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard or working in residential construction, his career has long been defined by responsibility, precision and showing up when it matters most. Now, he is bringing that same steady, service-minded approach to Ridgewood Property Solutions, a business built around protecting one of a homeowner’s greatest investments: the home itself.

As owner of Ridgewood Property Solutions, Eidschun provides professional home watch services, an increasingly valuable resource for homeowners who spend extended time away.

“People leave for weeks or months at a time,” he says. “They need someone they can trust to keep an eye on things.”

That trust is grounded in experience. After graduating from high school in 2003, Eidschun enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he continues to serve, with more than 20 years of combined active-duty and reserve service. His deployments have included Texas during Hurricane Harvey in the Houston-Galveston area, Southwest Border Operations in El Paso and Florida in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Closer to home, he has spent more than a decade with the Ridgewood Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT, often responding to situations that began as small, preventable issues.

“You see firsthand what can happen when something small goes unnoticed,” he says.

That mindset is reinforced by his years in residential construction. Since 2013, Eidschun has worked with Cutting Edge Contracting in Ridgewood, developing a practical understanding of how homes function—from plumbing systems to structural weak points.

Together, those experiences shaped the foundation of Ridgewood Property Solutions.

The business grew naturally. Friends and local homeowners began asking Eidschun to check on their homes while they were away, whether that meant retrieving packages or responding to water-sensor alerts. What began as a favor quickly revealed a genuine local need.

Today, his service goes well beyond a casual check-in. Each visit follows a detailed inspection process covering both exterior and interior conditions. Rooflines, drainage, basements, plumbing systems and appliances are all reviewed, with photos and a written report shared after each visit.

“It’s peace of mind,” he says. “Not just that someone stopped by, but that everything was actually checked.”

That level of care is what distinguishes professional home watch from an informal favor.

“A neighbor might look around and say everything seems fine,” he says. “But they’re not trained to know what to look for.”

Eidschun’s inspections are designed to catch early warning signs—clogged gutters, small leaks or malfunctioning systems—before they become costly problems. When needed, he can also coordinate with trusted local service providers, giving homeowners a reliable point person while they are away.

“If something comes up, I can handle it or get the right person there,” he says.

That reliability is underscored by his accreditation with the National Home Watch Association, reflecting his commitment to professionalism and industry standards.

Though the business is still in its early stages, Eidschun’s vision is clear. As more homeowners divide their time between locations or travel frequently, the need for dependable oversight continues to grow.

At the same time, the business reflects his personal priorities. A husband and father of three, Eidschun is building something that allows him to remain present with his family while continuing to serve his community.

“It’s about balance,” he says.

And that balance shapes the way he works. There is no one-size-fits-all model. Whether a client is away for a week, a season or longer, Eidschun tailors his service to meet the need.

“There’s no job too small,” he says. “If someone needs help, we’ll figure it out.”

In that way, Eidschun’s work reflects a quieter kind of leadership—one rooted not in reaction, but in readiness. In a region where homes are often significant investments, that kind of proactive care offers something every homeowner values: peace of mind.
